Volunteer with Us
GAIN offers several volunteer opportunities to those interested in advocating and supporting immigrant survivors of crime and persecution. Volunteering with GAIN might look like taking on a pro bono case, translating and/or interpreting for a GAIN client, or providing support at a legal clinic. We also have non-legal volunteer opportunities including event support for our spring fundraiser, and our end of year client appreciation event.
Volunteer on a Legal Case
At GAIN, our trained volunteer attorneys help fuel our work by taking on pro bono cases for our clients. In return, GAIN’s legal team guides our volunteers, offering technical assistance during their case. We’re always looking to grow our network of pro bono attorneys. So if you’re interested in taking a pro bono case, visit us on Paladin.
Volunteer at a Legal Clinic
Since 2019, GAIN has been hosting legal clinics, which offer short-term opportunities for volunteers to provide immigration relief support to those who need it. We continue to partner with law firms, and refugee-serving organizations in guiding clinic participants who are filing for asylum, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and now work permits. You do not have to be an attorney to volunteer at our clinics. We also have non-legal volunteer opportunities that you can read more about below. If you’d like to stay informed, sign up for alerts for our upcoming legal clinics.
Non-Legal Volunteer Opportunities
Year-round, we work with non-legal volunteers in different areas. For some GAIN cases, we need volunteer translators and interpreters to support pro bono attorneys at small to midsize law firms. At our legal clinics, we need volunteers to help with greeting and check-in, guiding participants through the clinic, assisting with childcare, interpreting based on language needs, administrative support, and clinic setup and breakdown. Each spring, we need event volunteers for Taste of the World, our annual fundraiser. We also need support at our annual client appreciation event that takes place in December.
